CERIDEP anatomic and cytological pathology laboratory

The Rita Center for Diagnostic and Pathology Expertise (CERiDEP) is a professional civil society of pathologists committed to providing high-quality anatomopathological diagnostics with precision and speed.

Our Centre

A shared vision of diagnostic excellence

CERIDEP — Rita Center for Diagnostic and Pathology Expertise — was born from the union of experienced pathologists with multi-decade careers in general and specialized pathology. Built on a shared vision of diagnostic excellence, our centre integrates the latest technological advances in the service of clinicians, biologists, and patients.

Our ambition is to establish ourselves as a regional and national reference centre, delivering reliable, fast, and internationally-standard diagnostic responses in full compliance with the highest quality standards.

Quality

Quality approach aligned with ISO 15189

Quality is at the heart of our practice. CERIDEP operates according to the requirements of the ISO 15189 standard, covering the entire pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical process.

  • A team of highly qualified technicians, regularly trained in good laboratory practice.
  • A dedicated quality manager overseeing documentation, internal audits and non-conformity management.
  • Standardised procedures for sample transport and preservation, available on this site.
  • Examination request forms specific to each sample type, downloadable from this site.
Reports

Structured synoptic reports (CAP)

CERIDEP adopts editorial standards inspired by the best international practices, notably those of American pathologists and reference institutions (CAP, USCAP). For all cancers, structured synoptic reports are systematically produced, ensuring the completeness and readability of the information transmitted to the clinician.

Co-signature of reports is the rule: each case is reviewed and validated by at least two pathologists, ensuring maximum diagnostic safety. Reports are delivered digitally within a controlled timeframe according to the type of examination.

Easy access & continuous communication

Continuous communication channel via WhatsApp for urgent cases, case follow-up or a preliminary opinion pending the final report.

The Discipline

What is anatomic pathology?

Anatomic pathology is a medical specialty whose role is to establish or confirm a diagnosis based on the analysis of tissue and/or cells sampled from the patient. This diagnosis plays a major role in assessing clinical prognosis and in choosing treatment.

The anatomopathological examination includes the assessment of prognostic factors and the identification of genetic mutations in tumour cells, making it possible to predict the effectiveness of therapies.

The full integration of anatomopathological activity into the patient's care pathway is essential since the introduction of targeted therapies. It should be noted that reimbursement of these therapies is linked to these anatomopathological analyses.

The physician specialised in this discipline is called an anatomic pathologist or pathologist.

Historical milestones
  • 1679First treatise on anatomic pathology by Théophile Bonet, a Geneva physician.
  • 18èmeModern anatomic pathology emerges with Jean-Baptiste Morgagni (Italy).
  • 19èmeRudolf Virchow (Germany) makes a fundamental contribution to the discipline.
  • 1819First university chair at the University of Strasbourg by Jean Lobstein.

Our Mission

To provide precise, fast, and accessible anatomopathological diagnostics to improve oncological and medical care in Tunisia, through the expertise of our pathologists and our cutting-edge technologies.

Our Vision

To become the reference laboratory in anatomopathology in Tunisia and North Africa, recognized for diagnostic excellence, technological innovation, and commitment to patients and clinicians.
